The roof is new so we won't be changing it to a more desirable metal roof anytime soon. But what I was thinking...if it was a metal roof the siding would look good running the same way.

Horizontal everywhere or board and baton under the porch and horizontal everywhere else.

This looks like a fun project and somewhat of a blank slate. It could be either, or a combination of horizontal at lower level and vertical at upper or accent areas. Also, the porch design may help determine the siding direction. I hope this helps.
