Oak and Broad...you are needed! You'll get some beautiful finishing advice from Oak and Broad. They have some lovely soft finishes with darker stains. Very impressive. Try sending out a message to Oak and Broad via Houzz.

The counter chairs look like a good start towards the darker stain you want. Also the top rail of your banister looks like a pretty dark stain. Get a darker stain with a hint of red in it to coordinate with the cabinets. Just remember all the dark is going to suck up more light than your current color. I'm not saying dark floors aren't beautiful; they certainly are. But be aware this will happen. And also (from personal experience) dark floors really show the dust and any dog/cat hair, if you've got furry friends ;-)
