I think the design depends on if you want a separate kitchen dinning and formal dinning space. If you take the wall out I, personally, wouldn't have a formal dinning room, but instead open up the space to being a large kitchen with a breakfast bar and maybe small desk area where the bar is now. If you want to keep the formal dining space, I would change the current wall between the kitchen and dining room to look like the picture below, along with adding the same entry way between the dinning room and living room. This would give that space a more sectioned-off, formal feel while being open enough to collect some natural light.
