You need to spread the white around the room. Slipcover the dining chairs with white washable covers. Look at doing some of the walls the same white as the cabinetry and using white as the accent for the throw pillows. White sheers this time of the year are perfect to brighten things up as well. Also, look at adding more light. I don't see a lot of lamps.

Beautiful kitchen! You can use your present dining table, just update with new chairs or you paint them white or grey. Change chandelier to something more modern. Remove the ornament on wall and replace with a large mirror that sits on the floor (to reflect light). Could add a rug underneath. Paint the whole open concept the same grey as your kitchen. Your couch just needs some graphic pillows (tie in with paint color). I think the biggest change will be your accessories and a new lamp. Remove nic nacks and think larger pieces for a modern feel.
