Fireplace stays unpainted. Want to paint crown molding and bookcases off white (lighter than walls) as space needs to be lightened up. Bookcases will go on either side of fireplace. Tv will be gone. Bookcases will go to the ceiling and have crown molding to follow the profile. Is it ok to do this and leave the wainscoting alone? Was told I should paint the bookcases the wall color and leave the crown alone because it wouldnt look right if the crown and wainscoting didn't match.
Any opinions welcomed. Am really not wanting to paint the wainscoting. Sorry my pics are so dreadful (AND no this is not the way the room usually looks!)
