Is there space you can span a closet rod across for his towel?

He should definitely not leave them on the floor. A towel rod shouldn't be a problem though for his concerns.

I'm not sure what is wrong with a towel rod, if it's wider than the towel... is the complaint that the rod is too skinny, so there's not enough airflow between the two halves? Perhaps you can custom-make a towel rod with two dowels providing a couple inches of breathing room between the two halves of the towel draped over. I hope this helps. :) -VLT John

How about a heated towel bar?

I use my own towel 2-3 times before laundering, but my husband complains like yours. Several years ago, I purchased him 7 towels. Each time he showers, he removes the "used, dry enough for me, not dry enough for him" towel and places it in the hamper, then he gets a new towel. End of problem.

How about putting a small chair in there, at least he can throw it over the chair.

Since you asked. Whenever you use a washcloth, hand towel, or bath towel, skin cells slough off your body and stick to the fabric. Those cells serve as as food for bacteria. Bacteria thrive in damp, densely woven material, which has lots of nooks and crannies for bacteria to hide in. As you reuse towels, these bacteria can transfer back to you and cause skin infections. Don't ever use a towel more than once if you have any type of open wound. Sorry, this is graphic, but you did ask!

How about using a double towel rod? He can drape his towel over each rod, with ample airflow between both halves. I do this myself so my towel will dry faster.

halfpint, I can understand not using a towel twice if you have an open wound. That's different. I have never had a skin infection, thankfully, except when I had a spider bite.

If he drops a wet towel into a hamper it will sour and be worse. Install a heated towel system where he can hang the wet towel to dry. Next time he bathes, he can remove the now dry towel to the hamper and the rack will be ready for the next 'dirty' towel.

Decoenthusiast, that's what we do. No towel heater system needed here, we have no humidity and they dry quickly. But I don't like wet towels in the hamper.

We buy the quick dry towels at JCPenney. Not only do they dry quickly between showers, they dry very quickly in the dryer. Love them!

I empathize with both of you. My hubby uses the entire towel rack to hang his towel. I find myself using the tops of the doors, top of the shower frame, or half wall on the upstairs landing.
