Chevron is always a classic pattern and will never go out of style. Go for it!!

I agree. Also, I think the colors are a bit more restrained in the chevron pattern. The one on the right seems a bit too busy with the countertops.

Will you be removing the short granite backsplash first? If not, I think all those will look too busy. If so, I like the chevron.
If you are unable to remove the granite splash, I might just leave it as is (with paint above the short backsplash) or go for a larger, simpler tile above it (like pictured below). I think any of the choices you have pictured will look far too busy over the existing backsplash.

Ann is right, please remove the short backsplash before using any of the mosaics. I think the chevron would be stunning with your granite.

I also agree with Ann. Everything she said is correct. When I got my new quartz countertop I told my sales rep that I didn't want the short backsplash because my husband and I were planning on having a tile backsplash installed. Our backsplash is like the one in the middle, but is black, white and gray in color and our countertop is a shade of white and not as busy as yours so it works. If we had gotten the short backsplash it definitely would have been too busy and over done. The photo Ann posted is a great example of what to do if you can't remove the short backsplash.

I would use the middle stone. If you apply a stone sealer you will never have to worry about staining. I like to use a product called sealers choice gold by aqua mix
I apply one coat of sealer on the stone before I grout it and a second coat after the grout has cured. Good luck

I like Ann's larger (marble?travertine?) flat faced subway tiles whether or not you remove the current short backsplash. I think all the small tiles will be too busy with your granite , especially when you add the grout lines. Her suggestion is a more soothing and classic look.

I like the idea of subway tiles the most..like in the picture Ann posted. If not, I prefer the second of your choices.

Your three options, while beautiful products, are too busy adjacent to the speckled granite - the granite is the feature - more patterning is busy and confusing to the eye. As rocketjcat mentioned, a simple back splash will be soothing and will enhance your countertop (without the need to remove the short granite trim). Another option is a plain coloured glass backsplash - simple and smart and easy to wipe down - no grout.

I like the idea of the larger, subdued subway tile backsplash. If you need to add more interest, take a look at marbled or beveled subways, or larger glass tiles.

Yes, I think tiles in general are trending larger, with less grout lines, for floors and walls. I know it's nerve wracking to haul samples back and forth, while continually thinking through the pros and cons; but I think when you find the right choice, you'll just know that it's the one for you. I've recently been there, done that. It will be a joy when it comes together. Good luck with your search.

Love all three but with the countertops I say subway tile, or the middle option. My favorite is the chevron but may be too busy for the coutnertops.

Another vote for Ann's subway tiles. There's a lot of pattern in your granite...I'd choose a backsplash that doesn't fight with it.

Too matchy matchy. Go with black and cream and white ...be more daring Otherwise it's boring.

A bit hard to tell without seeing it in person, but that subway tile you pictured looks pretty nice.

Do the chevron pattern. Comes from clothing design and is timeless and classic without being boring or overwhelming.

I like the middle one. It seems to coordinate best with the counter and doesn't seem to add too much additional pattern or texture to make it all look too busy.

Everything will go out of style in a few years, some more than others. Pick something you will like to look at every day and enjoy it. The smaller tiles are pretty, but always look too busy with that type of granite, for my taste. A larger, simpler subway tile would look nice.

Trishanicole, you wanted to see what marble subway might look like, so here is my marble backsplash with white grout. I picked through the boxes to get a mix of beige graining to tie in with my countertop, but most were much more solid or had more grey tones, which you might prefer. I opted to keep my ivory corian backsplash. Just a thought.

Just my opinion, but they are all too busy with your granite, even the marble subway tiles. If it were my kitchen I would go with solid subway tiles in a color pulled from your beautiful granite which should be the star. Patterned backsplash of any type will fight with it.

It's possible that anything patterned might fight with it. You'd be safe with just choosing a solid subway.

I feel like the marble subway tile is very subdued and would not fight with the granite. Especially with using a light grout. The plane white subway tile, I feel like washes the kitchen out. Remember the cabinets are white. What color subway tile were you thinking of? Taupe? Light Grey? Thank you for your continued feedback!

Either taupe or light grey might look very nice. Grab samples and look at them in all lights.

I think the middle choice would be outstanding...but think about leaving the existing short piece and turning the stone vertically. I feel stone is a more timeless choice. Only my opinion, but subway tiles belong in a subway or bathroom. The chevron pattern is too busy and competes with your attention for the granite. My kitchen designer placed the first row of tiles vertically and we loved it. Also, the stone on the backsplash has been given 1 coat of sealer (lasts 15-20 years) and even tomato sauce wipes right off. Good luck and post pics of the winning choice!

I think you should determine first if you can, in fact, remove the 4" granite backsplash as the strategy for choosing a backsplash tile will be totally different depending on the answer to that question.

Definitely the middle choice if removing the backsplash--keep it subdued. I think chevron is a fad that will eventually pass, not to mention not as relaxing on the eyes as a more simple running pattern.

I love those glass tiles Ms-sis, and the colour and lustre beautifully combines with your granite. Back to debate re short granite backsplash - the advantage of keeping it in place is ease of wiping with no repeated grout lines meeting the rear of the bench top. In the kitchen, cleaning is such a major consideration, when you add up all the times you make that wiping manoevre - and it's mostly one person, again and again - all adds up and makes attaining the perfect ascetic a titch less essential. Of course we notice the look of harmony and balance first - but perhaps we loose sight of the practical features that lighten mundane chores. The glass subway tile is my favorite thus far. It's pretty and understated, and, therefore looks posh. Moreover, I like it with the counter tops. I worry, however, that glass tile is played out. It's everywhere now. I think glass tiles will be passe in five years. How long do you want this to look current?

I also feel as though that the glass mosaic tile will soon be played out. Although, I did completely remodel my master bathroom with mosaic glass tile. It looks beautiful in the bathroom. So I hope, for my bathroom's sake, that the mosaic tile will not go out of style for at least another ten years! Fingers crossed!
However, since the kitchen is more open to the public eye and i want to make sure the granite and backsplash work! I will now be shopping for sample subway glass tile. Wow from mosaic to chevron to marble to subway glass! Thank you all again!
On another note, the middle stone backsplash was hardly mentioned. I did not realize you can seal it so it won't stain. I am thinking of using the stone backsplash for my fireplace. Would that be ok to do? Have subway tile backsplash for the kitchen, then stone backsplash in the fireplace and mosaic tile backsplash in the masterbath????

I think that the high contrast and mixed length mosaic glass tiles are already played out (or at least so over-saturated that they are looking predictable). But the simple one color glass tiles like the subway tiles Ms-sis posted are so much more neutral that they won't date nearly as quickly.

Can you please share who makes the chevron white tile? Where did you find it? I have been looking for the same one for my kitchen.

I unfortunately do not have the brand of the chevron backsplash as it was just a sample. However, I did pick it up from Lowe's and should be available on lowes.com. Good luck.
Update: my husband and I decided to wait to install the backsplash and did not want to make any rash decisions. However, we are still favoring the chevron backsplash. And that might very well be the one. Thank you.

The chevron tile. It's crisp lines complement your cabinetry and give a nice visual interest without having to add another wide range of colors and textures.

I have to agree with some of the others that they are all too busy for the granite you've chosen. You likely wouldn't wear a heavy pattern on your pants with a heavy different pattern on your blouse and this is the some. Let the counters be the statement and go with a simple subway tile that matches the light cream tone in your counter. Just make sure the undertones are the same ie pink or yellow etc.
