Hi, since this is your main entry you need something functional but still looks attractive. Most typical entry benches are suited to mud rooms or separate foyers, so try this. I would get a larger mat, probably 3x5 to give everyone lots of room to remove shoes etc. use the wall to the left of door, where the black picture is hanging to put a console table. This would be a handy place to drop mail, keys, and underneath area for shoes. You can use your existing shoe rack under console, or in this pic I'm including, they have used wooden dish drying racks. It's a neater look to have shoes off floor.
