Hand held Shower

Should I include a hand held shower handle when remodeling my master bathroom? Is it really worth the additional money? The additional cost is approx. $700, plus the cost of a plumber for the installation of the new valves and additional plumbing. It is a small shower, 34 x 47.

I love hand held showers, so I would definitely include it. But you should consider whether the things it is especially useful for (bathing kids, the elderly and handicapped, pets, cleaning the shower, etc.) apply to you. I have found them useful in all sorts of ways.

I agree with Deborah. I have a fixed shower head and then a handheld directly under that. I planned for the handheld for cleaning the shower. Now, I like it also since I can lower it and easily shower without getting my hair wet. But, I do think the handheld could have worked as my only shower head, in place of the fixed one.

I agree, consider using a shower head that can also be used as a hand held. If you want two separate ones, then you could do that as well. It would be enjoyable, but only get it if you truly think you would use both.

Definitely agree with others that a handheld is multipurpose and can be your only shower head . I just went through an ensuite Reno and I know the expense of the two shower heads . I did get it because I wanted the handheld but never thought about only have it alone , now that I use the shower it is nice having the two , feels more luxurious having two water sources hitting you, but I also know we could have easily gone with the handheld alone. And it would look less cluttered. See photo

If you are doing a handheld, I usually plan for a seating ledge so someone can lean against it to shave their legs or perch... but this may also add expense but well worth it https://www.houzz.com/photos/redesign-basement-bathroom-contemporary-bathroom-phvw-vp~1848983
