Hmm that sounds like a good idea!! When u say chocolate brown do you mean like the cherry wood brown? & are you suggesting that as the vanity area such as the cabinets etc?

Is the toilet broken? Call me crazy but I like the green fixtures. Is the bathtub surround tiled and the rest of the walls just painted the same color? I would definitely remove the soap/toothbrush holders. Since the everything else is colored, I'd install an updated white vanity. Are you keeping the grab bars? Houzz searches work in such a way that you could put the term "green toilet" in a search and you can refine your options. Collect the pics you like into an ideabook and that could serve as inspiration.

Btw, I'm sorry to hear of your father falling ill. Your care and concern could be a great motivation to finish such daunting tasks, and if he is the "client" living there, be sure to okay design choices by him if that would be a concern of his.

Have you ever attempted home reno? If not, it may serve you to consult pros first, even through estimates, so as not to overload yourself. Best of luck!

And if the green is being kept, a rustic chic look could work. Using wood, or wood tiles, those green fixtures may be crazy enough to work!

Black and white. Timeless, classic and modern with the green.

ceb - for the greatest saleability, allow me to suggest colors for everything so you can move forward. You do need to demo the yellow tile and replace it. White wall tile in a oblong pattern like subway is needed in the surround. White hex tile on the floor. You want historic, classic patterns and styles and then to use fresh colors. You need to remove all the yellow ceramic elements too (you can ebay and get paid for them so don't smash em). Look for a long cabinet that will accomodate two sinks in a white, classic finish. You will need help for the electricity and the plumbing, where you need a licensed pro to replace the shower valve, head and controls and match it up to the new sink faucets style. I will suggest specific schoolhouse type light fixtures for over the mirrors that want to be nickel toned to work with the grab bars. It is worth it to splurge on good high end medicine cabinet mirrors over the sinks and run electricity to hang sconces in between. They are attractive, highly functional and finish the look.
Paint the walls a cocoa tone with white trim and door that is close to your tile color. Only keep the green toilet IF it still functions well, the seat is not worn and you don't have new low water requirements. If in all respects it is still a gem, keep it, otherwise, replace it with a new classic throwback style and keep the tub - cast iron is fabulous and impossible to replace.

paint the walls bm coastal fog . . . voila! chic throwback bath . . (you may want to mask and spray the metal window frame with rustoleum oil rubbed bronze paint inside before you do any other things - the chocolate, white and spring green will always be fresh and classic.

Light green glass wall tiles would be nice.

Using the white allows the room the opportunity to brighten up a little! Being that this bathroom is just 1 of the three full bathrooms, I think brightening this particular one would be awesome!

But to answer your question, yes the toilet works & the tub is
Surrounded w: yellow tile & the walls has almost the same shade of yellow paint! I'll attach a few more close up pictures of those areas to give u a better idea!

& yes we do plan on removing the soap & toothbrush holders due to them just really needing to be replaced especially from taking out the vanity section! I was thinking of either getting rid of them all together (completely) or if needed replace them w/ white ones!

In regards to the grab bars, i was thinking about leaving them (for now) just in case my father regains his strength enough to start showering on his own! Otherwise if I removed them now, I would have to worry about re-doing the tiles that become broken in the process along with having to eventually re-install new grab bars in my father's personal bathroom!

Leave them they are handy if you ever slip!

With your dad in mind, may sure you choose ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant flooring. Bathrooms are slippery already so pick something to minimize risk.
