Hi there! Your home looks so warm and inviting, I hesitate to suggest any changes at all! But, I understand the desire to go a little more modern.

Because of the arched profile on your upper cabinet doors, your kitchen will always read as traditional, and I do t know if painting your cabinets is the way to go. If you were to go with white, you might end up with a cottagey look.

Would you be hapoy with just changing out the door pulls and knobs to a satin nickel finish with a more modern shape, such as the ones below (Home Depot)?

Also, changing out the bar stools to something with clean, modern lines would give your kitchen an update. showing below a couple of possibilities from Crate & Barrel. White slipcovered bar stools could work too.

I love the new white color for your wainscotting. That must have been a very dramatic change. What if you now paint the rest of the walls a very light blue/green/grey, such as Ben Moore's Oyster Shell?

Probably the single-most important change you could now make is to paint the fireplace a warm, soft white. Also the bookshelves. This will be as strong a change as painting the wainscotting was.

I love your sofa, but can't see too much of the LR decor. Perhaps some new pillows on the sofa in maybe navy or indigo could work?

Back to the kitchen - I see you have two small rugs - you could change these out as well. The one closest to the sink area could be an indoor/outdoor rug, which would handle spills and heavy traffic very well. Showing two ideas in the next post, both from ?Dash & Albert.

Your rooms are very lovely, and don't need much tweaking at all to freshen up. You already have " warm and cozy" down pat!
