What a pretty kitchen! I think the metal legs are too modern for the rest of the space. Maybe a stool with wood legs would work better

The kitchen window looks great on its on. With the red accent wall in the adjoining space and some red in the adjoining cornices, put some red in the bar stools to marry up the spaces.

HI -- This is a real nice kitchen . If you don't really use the stools ,then I wouldn't get any . You don't have to have stools just because you have an island . There isn't much of an over hang for stools to tuck under enough to be out of the way . So if you really need and want stools then find ones that are more tailored with the legs not flaring out too much . See if you can get a couple of choices from the furniture store on approval to see what works . Maybe some with chrome or dark wood but not the same color as the wood on the island . If you can get more of the fabric that is on the valance then that could be for some stool seat cushions and a roman blind over the sink . Make the sink window covering blind the width of that area hung from that ceiling height . Think about moving the window valance up to the ceiling height too. Or have no valance but just some drape panels on a rod hung to the ceiling height . No you don't need a rug under the table and chairs . Adding some color to your choices would look nice as was already mentioned . Also -- if you are going to paint , then paint the bulkhead under side the same as the walls , it is not a ceiling ,it's part of your walls.
