Need help with room layout

How would you recommend laying out the furniture in this main living space in this room to have it be a functional place to entertain and for family life (with little kids)? I'm struggling because there are "features" on all sides - windows, fireplaces or doors/openings to other areas. Our existing furniture doesn't seem to really fit well, so thinking of starting from scratch.

Hi, I hope you don't mind my drawing but I needed to see it on paper. My drawing isn't the greatest but hopefully it provides a starting point. The bench is for extra seating since you entertain - using a bench opens up sight lines so the room doesn't feel so crowded. You can also use 2 stand-alone stools in its place for extra seating.

If you do not already have one, a window seat might also be fun - and you can have baskets underneath for extra storage if needed.

The 2nd pic might be a way to dress up the wall on the outside of the closets - or you can make it a picture wall with lots of family photos in frames.

Not sure what is happening on the right side of the floor plan with the 'box'. Closets?

It's two coat closets back-to-back, creating a wall on the side facing the living space.

Hang TV on the closet wall mounted on an articulated arm for flexible adjustment. Place a credenza under it for additional storage of toys, etc. Hide the TV gear inside the closet. Build banquette seating with storage underneath in the bay window. Place a pair of chairs and small game or chess table in front of the FP. If you don't need that, then simply flank the FP with a pair of comfortable arm chairs. Place the sofa and pair of swivel chairs as jwill11 shows. For a family dining table, try a bench either under the window or on the wall opposite the kitchen. Use a trestle table and additional chairs.

Thank you - these are great ideas!!! Will have to visualize. I also considered a sectional for seating.
