I like option #1 best but you might have to change the throw pillows.

I think the choice of rugs are too similar in pattern to the curtains.
You might consider an alternate geometric design
this also leaves you leeway for more acccent colours

Also the vase on the mantle is too tall
you could consider a couple of vases as seen in this ref pic
possible add some branches to the floor urn(altho this pic shows pussy willows)
    branches are more current
    see pic for ref

#1 as it looks like it picks up the tone of your fireplace trim.

The first one is the only one that goes with your pillows.

Oops, should have read all the comments. I actually like the existing rug. It's the art and mantel I would change.

I agree with groveraxle. I like the existing rug. . .love the texture. I, too, think it 's the art and the mantle that are wrong. It looks like family photos in the picture collage. Is there one that you love? I would have that one blown up in black and white and frame it similar to what's posted above.

HI -- I think a bigger version of what you have is the best way to go -- more longevity . Side comment -- if that is just an electric corner fireplace , then change it out for a more modern long low profile style and put it in the center of the end wall or beside the TV , but not in the corner . If not , then paint it the color of your trim or darker like the TV stand . Then style it as Groveraxle suggested . Other wise if I have to pick one of the new rugs I think #3 goes best with your drapes and so on. Or find a light gray and cream white chevron or zig zag pattern or a salt and pepper texture or a wool that looks like a sisal . Or one of those over dyed antique ethnic carpets . I remember from the previous discussion that she can not do anything about the fireplace yet.
Existing rug is good too if she wants calm space. Other ones just bring more life into the room.

Hii....the current one looks very nice. The room is already busy with lot of furniture around. A plain rug would make the place look sober....if incase you wanna chance then you may go for lighter shades with self patterns. Good luck

I like the ogee patterned rug that has the diamond pattern. The scale of the rug design is important because we don't want them to be the same scale and size of the pillow fabric. I love what you are doing and love the yellow. Keep up the good work! I may have to copy your inspiration in that room. Yellows are still real big these days.

Thought it might help you to see a project I did with dark grey couches and yellow and grey area rug (with yellow accents throughout the main floor). I'm not sure the colour of your walls is going to work with the proposed rugs though as there seems to be a peach tint to your walls...
