I probably would not paint the ledge stone. It will likely take on the new character of the house after you paint it anyway. You will lose a lot of interest and texture and end up with a very monolithic looking house.

Don't paint the stone, you will destroy the character of it. Its such a beautiful home .

Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm further, but I agree with the two Houzzers above. The exterior of your home is most attractive, and I love the way the stone on the house picks up the stone in your front fence. The white / grey / charcoal look may be appealing now, but it will date and if you decide you want a different look it will be almost impossible to remove the paint from the stonework [so, yes, stone can be painted].

Don't paint stucco it peals after about 2-3 years

Live with it nothing wrong do not create more issues and Never ever paint stone or concrete unless you use an epoxy coating which means expensive! Please spend about $500 a 5 gallon bucket plus the hardener which is another $100 bucks

That is the only way to paint stucco it moves just like concrete so keep that in mind

I'm going to give you totally different advice! I'm going along with you. I think the home looks busy and chopped up. I'm all for painting it white. Also, I painted my own stucco home 7 years ago and have had no problems. Consider a white wash on the stone rather than a solid

I would gray wash the stone to give it a less beige appearance or remove it and paint it white in a heartbeat!! White houses are always in style and classic!! I would make the window frames black and dark wood garage doors.

Curious if you ever painted this house and, if so, how it turned out? Really want to do the same with ours (possibly white with black shutters but we have similar stone) but don't know of anyone who has done it!

I would not paint the stone. That will be a sorry mess. Would the gray paint blend in with the stone there. Its hard to tell in a photo. I think finding a gray paint that blends with the stone and white trim would be awesome. You find gray and tan in so many places. They are getting mixed a lot.

Looks like you got rid of the stone or laid over it? I would actually love to keep our stone but white wash it somehow and wonder how successful that might be. I know painted brick is all the rage currently but not sure how long that lasts. Can I ask what made you decide to get rid of or cover the stone? Thanks!

I’m glad you went with your desire for an update- I think more homeowners need to do that if budget allows. BTW, I also love the landscaping changes you made! ;)

No, we removed the stone entirely! And replaced with stucco. Found someone to do the demo work for $600 so it was a great deal.

If you can avoid painting the stone especially a "decorative" stone that is preferred. Of course, painting almost anything is possible.

No it wasn't a mason. A carpenter did it. I do not know the sq footage. It was the entire area over the door but not much more.

How much was the full re-do?? For the removal of stone and to add stucco? I got a quote to remove stone and replace with white for $83K?

It was about $1k to remove stone and add stucco. 83k is insane. Including the paint job with the window trim, it was all in at 10k.

Hi Briana! It’s gonna look great. We needed a new roof when we moved in and chose a grey. It wasn’t done for the remodel. I would not worry about yours, not worth the cost.

Not sure about painting roofs. I wouldn’t match the roof/ it looks kind of reddish.
