Adding curb appeal to my 1946 home

I live in a 1946 Bungalow in the Riverside Ca Wood Streets with most of the home's original features. We are surrounded by Craftsmans and we have the "newest" house on the block but, it looks
very plain in comparison to our neighbors. We've added some landscaping, fresh paint and a railing around the front door. What else can we do to make our home stand out?

we just re did the front step on our house and I didn't get really great Houzz feedback with what we did. However, i decided to write off some of the comments because I like what we have done and it was the best we could do in our budget. If we could all have designer homes. (sigh). Here are my suggestions; window boxes under those windows, a nice wreath on the front door, larger more distinct light on house, flower planter on step. Good Luck!

Check out another discussion today "needing curb appeal". I think those same ideas and pro pictures would look great on your home as well!!!

Unfortunately, the new rail sticks out (wrong color), and is the wrong style for your home. The roof color also does nothing to enhance the look.

Wish I had some constructive ideas that did not involve tearing into the stucco.

yes to window boxes. Beef up window casings (check out neighbors windows). Take out shrubs on left of porch. Put up trellis (white like porch railings) up far left side and grow a beautiful light pink climbing rose. Take hose off of house (just cause you have a spigot doesn't mean you have to have a hose attached to it. :) ) Pretty house to have fun with !!

If you need to have blinds closed because of sun, find some that look more attractive from the outside. These white ones make the house look sort of blank and insipid. I do like the colors you've chosen.
