Which should come first, the deck or the patio? The deck will be about 5 feet off the ground and must wrap around the morning room (from the fireplace bump out). The space underneath will not be usable, however the entire area, to include additional footage, will be paved or cemented. I want to create a patio space next to the deck which will be right infront of the basement walk up. The space is kind of tight and the backyard begins to slope downward about 20 feet from the house. From the fireplace bump out on to the walk up, I want to utilize as part of the patio somehow. The deck stairs will rest on the patio.
