These are the exact knobs I was looking at for our five panel horizontal doors. Would you say these would fit for a modern style or more traditional? Both materials are very traditional, but the smooth glass and the square plate say modern. Thanks!

You're exactly right: the material and finish are traditional in nature, but the shapes are contemporary. I think we can safely call this 'transitional' in style, which means it's fairly versatile. If your home is of a pure modern aesthetic, this would not be appropriate. However, if you're using a 5 panel door, chances are you're on the right track with this selection. I would just be sure you're keeping other fixtures in mind. Ideally, there should be some other metal components within the home with a similar finish, perhaps in lighting or cabinet pulls. You don't have to match everything, but you don't want the knobs to look out of place either. Also, check your local building codes. If this house had been built just a few months later, we would not have been able to use this product. The BC Building Code now requires doors to have lever openers and does not allow knobs. Levers are certainly more functional, but some of my clients were still choosing knobs for aesthetic purposes. Now we no longer have that choice.

Wow, that's some code that requires only levers. I don't mind levers but my husband prefers knobs. I think these are gorgeous! I hope they're not out of place, as most of the finishes are chrome. Hmmm...you've given me something to think about! Thanks for your thoughtful and immediate response!

I believe that backplate is available on polished Chrome, so might think about using that finish instead of the darker colour. Satin nickel finish should also work fine for you. Good luck with your project!
