I think 'timeless' is the key word in your desire. I know how expensive fabric and labor is, so most people cannot or will not replace expensive items as trends change. Patterns and prints come and go, so are best used in less expensive accents like chair seats or pillows or runners.

For draperies I would like to suggest a monochromatic color with some pattern or design woven into it. For example semi sheers with 'timeless' embroidery pattern. Tone on tone cotton and linen blends with embroidered patterns are also very lovely. If a print is used, I would do a smaller geometric like the last example.

These are just my opinions, but like everyone else, I have one (LOL). Oops, I just saw that this is an old request! What did you end up doing?

I feel that, in this instance, a classic grey would correspond well with the decor.

Thanks everyone for your opinion, I went with a pattern, I love the drapes but was really disappointed in the pleating.
