Need help choosing granite for cream colored glazed cabinets

We are doing a remodel after a water loss and need help choosing the right color tops for our kitchen. Our cabinets are very similar to

There is a very light accent around the trim and raised center panel in a brown/burgundy.

I don't think it would look washed out with mostly cream granite. Those two I posted have some color and interest, without being overly busy. I honestly think that extremely variegated granites are going to be dated soon because they are so polarizing- you either love 'em or hate 'em. However, black counters..granite or soapstone, are a fairly classic look. If you have plenty of good lighting (pot lights, pendants, windows) and lighter paint, it won't be dark.

Monitors can distort color, but would soapstone work? If not, don't use a heavily patterned granite as shown. You should also consider your backsplash at the same time.

strongly agree, minimize the size of your pattern, it starts to overpower the cabinetry, the eye doesn't concentrate at a single thing; gentler pattern, use rather the backsplash tiles (on full height of it) for cleaner look over the existing high rim.

You have too much movement in both the countertop and the backsplash. I would replace both you are ripping out the countertops anyway, it will be an easier remodel to do both. If you want a lot of interest in the countertops, then do less pattern on the backsplash.

I personally like my very busy granite, but I do wish at times I had chosen something more neutral. I like these two mainly cream granites with cream cabinets:

Solid black granite would be beautiful, too, and match any accent colors or decor.

Go with a lighter countertop as your kitchen will be brighter. It's amazing how much a dark countertop darkens a small kitchen--as in under 500 sq ft.

I have travertine on the floors so I feel I need something to contrast. Cream cabinets, light cream counters, and light floors will be very washed out and monotone. Right folks?

I just did that from a water leak too. I have the same cabinets. This is what I did. Hope this helps. My cabinets are called Creme Bulee

Love the gallio granite and backsplash above! So calm and sophisticated. It would look good with your tile floor also.
