Hi trent15, thanks for the question. There is no stain on this flooring, it is finished with a poly. It has that deep patina/color and character naturally due to age and its species. The flooring is reclaimed, antique Heart Pine salvaged from industrial buildings throughout the USA and we mill the salvaged timbers into flooring, wall and ceiling paneling, furniture stock and more. It's favored for construction due to its density, rigidness and its strength (it's as hard as Oak). Heart Pine also has resistance to decay, insects and rot. Thank you so much for your quick response. My husband and I are using heart pine flooring in our timber frame home and I'm trying to decide on the floor color, maybe a simple polyurethane is the answer leaving the natural color of the wood. Although the wood in this picture is reclaimed and the color has aged over time.

Can you please tell us whether this was a water-based or an oil-based polyurethane?

Hi Dan, thank you for reaching out! This flooring was finished on-site by the client, but we do know a poly was used - and we believe it was a water-based poly. Oil-based poly tends to produce a more "amberized" and "red-ish" tone on this particular species.
