Hello! This shade is fairly easy to take in and out of the window. 4 brackets are placed around the window and you use strings to secure the shade in place.

Another option would be to have a custom shutter made to fit over your window. When you want to let in light, you could swing open the shutter panel or tilt the slats open. Just close the slats to keep the room dark.
