Great job...I really like the look, however, my wife would find it a little too cold for her tastes. Obviously by anyone's standards it's a big improvement over what it was.

Needs a few nice leafy green plants on counter tops, it needs "softening", plants can do it.

Really great looking. Different touches make it cool. (such as the island) I bet the homeowners have a big smile on their faces!

Do you have any advice on adding trim to plain cabinets? I like a cafe style kitchen so I also am thinking about adding brick wallpaper to the backsplash and behind the fridge and stove. As well we will be painting the cabinets a brown on the bottom and a creamy colour on top and changing the hardware. Eventually counter and sink will be changing as well. We have a very tight budget.

Perhaps you can paint the lower cabinets and replace the upper cabinet doors only with new doors and hardware. A couple of glass cabinet doors would look great too. Otherwise, I assume when you say "trim" you mean adding a wood moulding onto the upper cabinets. If so, I would suggest simple shaker style trim. Make sure the doors/hinges are strong enough to support the added wood trim.

Thank you Fresh Architect, yes shaker style is what I was referring to and for now the budget won't allow for replacing anything but I will keep it in mind for future reference. Thanks for the advice!

Maybe you can trim your kitchen cabinets with what we're planning to use for picture frame molding in our new powder room. Since it's a brand new space, borrowed from a former hall, the molding will add instant age to what's now kind of a 5' x 5' boxy silo. We found a huge assortment of man-made moldings at Home Depot. Here's the very affordable one that I've chosen for our bathroom job.

Like the way the glass door cabinet goes all the way to 'sit' on the counter (left of the window). Has a drawer and silver baseboard trim...looks finished, and prevents clutter which is what open space would attract.

Amazing transformation! What floors did you use? Are they porcelain tiles? I want to change our old ceramic square tires to a more modern tile while keeping the hardwood floors in the living area. i see that you accomplished this in your kitchen! Nicely done.
