What did y'all decide?

I'd have suggested you put the door to the front bedroom behind the entry door and made the wall where the bedroom door is shown into a solid wall and put the tv there.

I'd have suggested that you keep the fireplace since it sounds as if you want to use it.

Alternately, if you're not using that third bedroom in the front, and if that is not a load bearing wall separating it from the entry and living room, perhaps you could have removed most of that wall and considered enlarging the living area or at least opening it up as much as possible, still using for a home office library and extra closet/storage space, perhaps separated by an open built in cabinet room divider w/your tv within it.

We did implement it similar to as you suggested. We used a single door off-centered for the front bedroom (rather than two sliding), and put a 60" tv on the wall there. This worked quite nicely because it put a little distance between the tv and the seating area (while making use of hall space).

We decided against the fireplace. The whole area is an open living, dining, kitchen. It's not too big, but has a large, open, bright feel to it :)
