We have it in our condo. I don't know why exactly but it is our condo's rules that no solid wood flooring can be installed so we opted for engineered. I like it. It's an upgrade from the carpeted floor we had. I wish we would have gotten a matte finish; ours is a shiny. I'm not sure what under-layment was installed but the new floor sure is squeeky which I definitely regret but of course we didn't know that would happen when we ordered it. I don't know if that is due to the floor under that or maybe there was glue used in the installation. We were not advised that this might be an issue otherwise we would have used a different under-layment/padding or installation method or flooring. So, what I would suggest is that you select the right product for under the wood and determine if there are any problems that can be associated with that. And ask about how it is installed such as glue and floating the floor. Yours might turn out quieter than mine!

If it's on the ground floor as I assume, have you considered wood look tile? It's a really good option and more durable than engineered wood, In fact, with a vapor barrier it'll last a lot longer than EW is warranted for.
