Where to store vinyl records - creative ideas?

I like this idea which looks like it could be a Expedit unit from IKEA. Has anyone else used any other objects - recycled or not - to store records in?

I lucked out and found some charming vanity drawers that fit the vinyls perfectly. I found them for a song too, since the parent piece was too far gone. The hardware alone was worth the price to me. :) I have three drawers and am now searching for a small table or base to place them on top of.

Vintage cupboards and wall units often have a purpose built section.

About 15 years ago, a local public library was doing a major renovation, and sold off all their shelving, etc. For $35, I scored the children's picture book shelving -- a 6 foot, double shelved, 2-sided unit, on casters. It holds thousands of albums.

I have mine in Billy bookcases from Ikea. I bought the glass door fronts. I have like 5 units in a row and the records are vertical along the bottom. Books and other stuff above.

I've seen special framing jobs where the album is framed and hung on the wall but still accessible if one wants to play it. Obviously this is something you'd only want to do with one or two special albums....

We too have framed some of our favorite covers, some of them are such art! Fun memorabilia and reminiscent of fond memories.
We purchased ours from Restoration Hardware.

Shirley, Jessica and 747, what marvellous ideas! Thanks so much. Hooray for Houzzers! We have IKEA in Australia but not Restoration Hardware so i will find something similar. Probably http://www.earlysettler.com.au or www.restorationonline.com.au/

What if you were to take a gorgeous MCM stereo console, gut it, to not only house the player, but also to store the LPs. Restore the exterior to it's former beauty (though there are some great buys out there on some in great condition) and amp up the interior with great fabric.
