Hi everyone! I'm currently remodeling my home and need help with determining whether to put pendants over the kitchen island.

First to give you an idea - our cabinets will be white and countertops a light gray concrete. We're installing a medium dark hardwood floor and subway tiling the backsplash. Behind the big silver shelving (our current pantry) there will be a white plank wall. There will be a dining table to the left of the kitchen island.

I'd love to place two pendants with the vintage edison bulbs and clear glass shade over the island. I'm worried however that it will make the space seem smaller. I'm also adding a short pendant over the sink in front of the window and trying to figure out how to light the dining room without making the ceiling look awkward with all these lights hanging down.

Should I just go with can lighting in my kitchen?

PS - the island isn't finished, just sitting there until we get an electrician to put an outlet on the back. It will be stationary with butcher block countertop.
