As it's designed for a statement wall, clearly the aim was to have something controversial. I personally do not appreciate it nor would I recommend it. I prefer people's faces .. Not always smiling but showing some emotion. I like how time is etched on their face. This fulfils neither of these criteria.

In this day and age - a sad or crying child suggests so many heart wrenching scenarios. I agree that context is everything, and unless this is a specific child, and you can hear the story of what might have caused the unhappiness, (and maybe chuckle about it), it is a very hard photograph to look at.

This space has more issues than just the art, but I too would not want a portrait of someone I didn't know on my wall, regardless of the pose.

Unless it was a picture of their own child and there was a funny story behind it, then I would not do it. I mean, even then, I might not do it, and if I did, I wouldn't do it that big.

If it was a grown man or woman with a forlorn look or tears, sure. That's different. Adults have a whole array of complex emotions that could spark thoughts or conversation in others. Children, not so much... When they cry, they are in pain or not meeting their basic needs. Leaves me feeling very uncomfortable.

Not a good choice. Child is not only crying, she is undressed. Imagine the child living in the home and seeing this picture. I'm sure she would feel very vulnerable. Honestly, if I visited a house with this art displayed, I would be inclined to comment.

My first thought on seeing that picture was that a pedophile lived there. So no, no way. I can't imagine having that type of picture of even my own child there. Art is one thing. Pain, hurt, sorrow of children...not in my definition of art.

@Sharon Bouchard.... I realize this poll started some time ago and recently popped up again but if you're still watching this thread, where did you see this? Was it in a magazine or on the web? Or?

I would not want a picture of me crying on someone's wall because I think I do not look my best when my face is all red so why would I hang a picture of a child on my wall that does not portray them in the best light? It does not have to be a happy picture, but that picture is quite a downer.

@grobby... I'd be inclined to call child care services or the police. That picture is wrong on soooo many levels.
