I don't think the black shutters work. The pillars could be boxed to make them look a little more substantial - it's a big house, it can take a little more emphasis. I would put a built-up garden in front of the porch - it would cover the orange brick and give a little softer look. It could even be tiered a little, so higher against the porch and a lower level near the lawn. What about steps that curve toward the sidewalk? Wider than they are now, from the edge of the house left to the edge of the pillar.
A crab tree or flowering dogwood would be nicer than the shrub.

Love these comments, thank you! I had already thought about "beefing" up the pillars. The "bush" in front is a Japanese Maple that's not going anywhere. Love the idea of covering up the brick, I have always wanted to paint it but hubs is against it.

One thing I noticed that isn't really a design issue, but is important is posting your house numbers in a prominent place on the house such as the post. The reason I bring this up is that I've heard my husband who has been a firefighter for 30 years mention how they couldn't find homes due to them not being marked. The dispatcher would have to call the reporting party back to get directions to the home. This can cost a person their life should they be having a heart attack or other life threatening emergency.
