Just moved into a house with lovely Brazilian cherry floors. But I find them slippery, hard on the feet & cold. I want to cover as much of them as possible with carpeting. When I talk to decorators & carpet people about installing carpet they all get a pained look & tell me not to do anything that might harm the floors. Multiple area rugs no matter how large will not help soften the traffic patterns because of the great room floor plan. I would like an almost wall to wall with a border of 12 inches all around. Any ideas on how to do this with minimal impact on the floors?
