need help matching room to new bed

So, I love this bed- it has muted colors in it. But looks drab in this room. Do I paint and distress dressers teal? what color comforter to change to? Any ideas would be so appreciated.

Here is a bedroom that is very similar to your existing wall color and wood tones. No need to paint your dressers. Just add some drama with a more colorful lamp, accessories and art. I also would place Euro shams on your bed to add some height against your headboard and perhaps edit some of the throw pillows.

Not sure I would paint the furniture teal...have you thought about changing the room color to lighten things up?

yes, I definitely could paint, and most of those pillows need to go, from old bed. I can definitely add a lamp too with color. We literally just put the bed in place of the other one, and have done nothing else. I am not as drab as this room appears, lol. Thank you very much for your answers, I appreciate the help.

What about pulling a color from the headboard to paint the walls? Like a really dramatic color on just the bed wall. Also, the bedding could really be sharp with either a jewel tone...or possibly even something with GOLD in it. Like a little bling!!! GOOD LUCK!

@Dytechture---that's exactly what I was thinking....like a slate blue would be really sharp on that wall (just the bed wall) And the other walls could be neutral.

    Pretty!

susan, what color would you think for bedding? I do like that slate color- it just shows, that I definitely need to paint the wall- would you do the whole room or just that back wall?

@rachelaughs, glad you like it :)

@trijar, I would at least do this blue as an accent wall, but if that's too much blue for you, perhaps you can paint the rest of the walls more neutral color, even eggshell white.

We have a gorgeous slate blue that we could bring to the top of the bed......white or ivory base coverlet or duvet and trim in the slate with or without a monogram would tie the wall colors together and make it cohesive.
My email is susan@leontinelinens.com if you have any questions or want me to send you swatches.....my phone 504-899-7833 at the showroom.

Hi -- I think the bedding and the walls are too much the same color. Pick out your fav accent pillow and work from that . BUT before you paint go look at some of the new wall papers they have now - some have a sheen to them and would put a bit of sparkle in the room .That might give you some color and design direction. And your lamps need to be about twice the size of the ones you have. The headboard etc. is beautiful but the pine blanket box could be painted . Clean crisp white bedding always looks good and monogrames adds classy element .

great suggestions here.....a medium greyish mauve color is also stunning for the walls with grey/silver window treatments and matching bed cover. I would not touch the furniture as it looks great in the pic.

I'd adhere to the array of colors in the headboard, plus white. Whatever color you put on the wall, and anywhere in the room for that matter, should be echoed in the bed.

That bed is a piece of art, and just the sort of inspiration point that so many posters lack. Once you have that bed (or that painting, that rug, or whatever it is that gets you excited to decorate), the rest of your decisions shouldn't be too difficult. Don't go shopping without color-accurate photos of it, and bring home lots of paint chips to look at -- while you're in bed.

If you're willing to sacrifice it if it comes out poorly, I'd try tossing your beige bedding in the washer with some red or green Rit Dye and see if you can call out one of the prominent tones in the wood. If it comes out a little mottled and batik-ey, all the better against crisp white sheets. And re-home anything like the mirror and pillows that don't fit your new color palate.

    Where did you find it?

Great suggestions above, but I would really like to see this bed against a creamy wall with creamy linens w/ the slate blue in the throw pillows. There are so many great colors in the bed itself that I would just let that be the focus of the room. Consider Ballet White OC-9 by Benjamin Moore for the walls. You can also bring in color with lampshades and art. Hope that helps. Charmean Neithart

Thank you all- I got the bed from a store in OKC called lorec ranch. The one in the store was a queen and it was really vibrant. Didn't get a look at the king until I got it home and was disappointed in how muted the colors were compared to the store . I knew when I got it in my room it was too dark. You all have given me great advice. I will pull color from bed and paint wall as well as new bedding and accents. Hopefully it will look as good as it can. It is a very unique bed and I love it.
