My ex insisted on moving up to king sized as soon as we had space for one. The only comment I have is that buying linens for the queen sized was MUCH more reasonably priced than the ones we had to buy to fit the king sized bed. It's not an every day expense, but it is quite a difference if you buy quality bedding.

Also, long term it takes more effort to make the bed daily (harder to smooth wrinkles in the center) and the mattress is heavier when you have to lift it to tuck the corners. I always had to get my ex to help when it was time to flip the mattress, the queen sized I could manage on my own.
