In response to the article above.

In my opinion trimming panels on site and figuring out how to run all the individual power leads is time-consuming and leaves to much room for error.

Plus depending on the quality of your stone, your can in some cases end up with lines where the panels meet edge to edge. An example is shown below.

Since the stone company will usually make either a template, which you can have scanned and turned into CAD file, or they will make a CAD file from the start you can take that CAD file and send it to a company like Knema.com which can have a single custom sized LED edge-lit panel made for you in as little as a week.

This is a much better option as you are only dealing with one panel, one power lead and usually one power supply. Also no worrying about unsightly seams from using multiple panels.

Does anyone know someone in the bay area who does this?

I am not in the bay area bud i can guide you

I'm sure that there must be a marble company with some type of experience

on How to do it

first i installed the led it should be installed about 3 to 4 inches apart in all the area you need to light up

the onyx should be 4 inches away from the source of light not to show lines

if the installation is on walls i recommend a few blocks of plexy glass drill to the wall all blocks should be polish on all side not to cause showdow

next you glue the onyx the with a clear non yellowing glue or pins each installer work with different materials

Pepe, what product/manufacturer did you use for the backlight of the onyx. We have a bar in our basement that we want to backlight before applying the onyx. thanks
