Several things come to mind for your lovely space. First, the TV and cabinet are imposing on the windows, and the TV is too high. If this is the only room for watching TV, I'd move TV connections to the sofa wall and use the white credenza instead of the tall cabinet to lower TV some. Use the dark cabinet at the stairs. Hang the round mirror 5" above the mantel (I hope there is a pretty chandelier to be reflected in it.) Stack the two pix that are over the mantel in the opening between the windows, with one frame's width between them and the center point between them 5' from the floor. I'm not a fan of the high back loungers in this formal space, as they are blocking it up and are too casual for all the formal elements here. I see another arm chair in the dining room which I'd bring to the living room, eliminating the loungers. Flank the FP with the two formal chairs, moving the sofa to the position the loungers take now. This will allow you to center the sofa and coffee table on the firebox opening, moving the coffee 18" from the sofa for usefulness.

I have the same dilemma

The two tall chairs are massive and block entrance to the room. You need a proper plan drawn to scale with dimensions. At the very least move the large chair closest to the TV elsewhere. Perhaps to a quiet corner for a reading area.

I have to agree with Gray and Walter, those chairs are nice but are really tall and decoenthusiaste about the tv being imposing. Could you mount the t.v. on the wall and maybe place a low piece of furniture (perhaps an ottoman) underneath it? I would move that large cabinet somewhere else.

I agree with many of the comments. I would try first:

1) Move to to wall where sofa is now/hang above a low console
2) Move sofa to float in front of windows/(alternate facing fireplace)
3) Remove 2 dark chairs
4) Float spindle chair to where one of the brown chairs is now/toward entrance and angle facing tv and fireplace

To me, tv's need to be housed in an entertainment center or hung. Otherwise they look "temporary.

I suggest one of 2 options

1) Move tv to opposite wall and hang over console
2) Leave where it is. Remove drapes on inside of windows. Can tv then fit hung there?

Tweaking: clock hung too high and really is not the right place for it.
2 shutters on either side of fireplace are distracting. I would remove them.

Less is more.

As you know, I'm with CDR on moving the TV to the opposite wall above a credenza. Would not remove any drapes, though. That always gives the impression that you couldn't afford two pair. With the chairs on that side of the room, the drapes will not look "hemmed in" by anything as they do with the TV there. I can get on board with removal of the shutters too - they are not enhancing the space and look misplaced with your general style.

My first choice would be to move the tv to opposite side. However, if you keep tv on window side, I just think it looks really odd in front of the drapes.

I still like deco's idea of the sofa in front of the two windows and the t v on the solid wall. Not loving the look of the back of sofa as is; and it also hides the lovely white credenza.

How would the two chairs look if put where the sofa is now?

I took some of your suggestions and made some changes. I removed the shutters and added windows for more light. I can't remove the recliners since the mister won't let me remove his chair.

Wow. That looks great. Moving the tv has really helped. One final suggestion:

-the recliner that is by the fireplace....I would move it to the left side of the tv.....against the wall, but angled.
-then move the leopard chair to the left side of fireplace.

In essence, switch the leopard chair and recliner, but the recliner will sit back more towards the wall.

Looking at the border on your rug, which grounds your furniture, I think the wider should be at the fireplace. I suggest rotating the rug first.

here is the chairs switched out. the rug I think will be too long turned the other way .. this room is really small.

Also, now that you've moved the tv, I would consider:

-couch back to position facing fireplace
-2 recliners angled on window wall
-leopard chair to left of fireplace

Yes. Much better! Please angle both recliners at the same angle. Place the blue garden table either on the inside between the tv console and the recliner or btn the leopard chair and recliner (wherever it is needed most).
