Suggestions for support post in new stair design

We are updating our staircase with dark wood newel posts and rod iron spindles. We would like suggestions on how to treat the support post. Should we make it look like one tall posts? Or keep it dry walled? The upstairs landing will also be rod iron spindles. Thanks!!!

12 years agoWell, it's finished! I do have a nice painting to hang where the basket is. Right now the painting is on a wall the will be removed on our next project...... kitchen relocation!
