Berlin, only for the beautiful room. I have never been there. I would vote for Paris based on personal experience but that room does not make me think of Paris.
All of these cities offer great reasons to be in them...however, none of these rooms really do.
I picked London only because it was the only room that actually looked like someone could live there. The other rooms are pretty but uncomfortable for actually living
  • 11 years ago
Don't really like any of them.
All of the rooms are too contemporary for me. I wouldn't be able to live in any of them "as is." However, if I were able to add some window coverings to filter some of the sun and some color, I could see my husband and I being comfortable in the San Francisco apartment.
Unfortunately, all of these rooms are ugly and do not reflect the unique aesthetic of their countries . . .
Ugh! They all look like furniture showrooms with no character.

When it comes to living rooms, I always start with a high ceiling -- London, Sydney, Berlin. Sydney's was too uncomfortable with the bench for TV viewing, London's shot was too "close up and did not capture the feel of the LR, and while Berlin had too much empty space against the walls, it was majestic in setting, with a beautiful chandelier. I do agree that neither really struck my fancy. Paris, with the weird window, and misshapen room, bombed.

Love the large windows and high ceilings of the London room. Usually, Paris has those amazing windows and details.

All are modern - however Sydney's design has a bit more color and thus a bit more inviting.

I'd choose Paris but give me original details, tall windows with a view. Furnishings not so modern, more traditional, and comfortable. I couldn't vote for any of the above rooms.

I was expecting something different from interiors in cities with so much history and culture of their own. Too white, too many cushions, too MCM, too generic. A sense of place is lacking (dome view notwithstanding)
Sydney - for the colors, the exterior view, the comfy shag rug. Please move that room to any one of the other cities, please...
Love the first with the blue couch.
I think they all look too modern and not very inviting. bleh....
Sydney gets my vote because it brings the outside to the inside and I like the added color the painting over the fireplace gives the space. However, the London interior looks more homey and comfortable. Berlin interior has beautiful flooring and a beautiful lighting fixture. The Paris interior contrasts the modern interior to the beautiful dome shown outside the window; the window is a point of interest as well. S. F. too bland.
Sydney- seems warmer and the large window wall brings in the light. I like the artwork, too. The others looked neat but not to sit in and relax.
Of course I have to go with London but I really loved the Berlin living room a lot too :-) Frankly I'd happily live in any of them. They are all beautiful in their way.
London. It has the most homey feeling.

I picked Sydney - not that I know anything about that city - because of the view outside the window. You can make all sorts of interior design choices but if your view is ugly, nothing will help. That being said, I'd like the living room to be in Vancouver, Seattle, or San Francisco.
I like clean contemporary and modern design, so this was a hard one. In the end, I chose something from each one: the art and color of London; furniture and color combination of San Francisco; architecture of Paris; lighting of Berlin; view and texture of Sydney.
Besides being in my hometown, I loved the white leather chair. My parents had one similar to it in black in their San Francisco home.
I vote for Paris. that view of the building did it for me. Location, location...
If I was to judge solely on the living room, and not the location, my vote is San Francisco. The use of mid century and modern furniture is well executed, and the accessories give it a very distinct style. I would however, turn the Eames chair more towards the couch for a setting more ideal for conversation. I also love that it is a living room without a tv being the focal point.
The Berlin room is the only one with good proportions so you could make something out of it ... if you get rid of all the crap furniture and so-called deco items! Even if you get rid of the modern unconfortable furniture (apart from the Eames of course) the other rooms are not very well proportioned in my view ... The worst by far being the Parisian conversion that cannot be saved by the unique view
  • 11 years ago
They all seem clean, impersonal and uncluttered. They could be anywhere. Yes I agree with sombriel: that view from the window--WOW
  • 11 years ago
I love d Sydney space, that rural view is breathtaking, the furniture is also very urban.
I hate to be negative about these choices--- but none of them appears to have comfortable seating, which is, of course, an extremely important consideration, at least to me. That's the difference between design for staging verses actually LIVING in the space. Probably the choice that is most easily remedied is the London room: get rid of two-thirds of the pillows and substitute the chair with one that would be comfortable and have good back support. And, although this might be nit-picky-- place the smaller art work piece above the larger one. The choice that would absolutely drive me crazy is the claustrophobic Paris room. There is no logical reason why the window had to be terminated at such a bizarre angle. It could have been brought down to the floor, especially since the architecture outside looks fascinating. The decision to minimize what seems to be an exciting view is just--- weird. Then, to torture the poor occupant with a chair that's uncomfortable to sit down and get up from further compounds the problem that I see with this room's design.
I have not yet read the other comments. Perhaps people like these rooms more than I do?

They are all contemporary designs which I detest. OK for an office but not where I live. If I could live any any of those cities I would pick Sydney Australia....just not in that space.

Suggestion for writers when conducting a poll to survey the tastes of their reading audiences: make sure the choices provided are differentiated enough from each, so readers can perceive differences between those choices.

I tried to go with my beloved city of San Francisco, however, having been blessed to travel to each of these cities, I think I'm just feeling very Londonish (as my second home) All of the spaces, I thought, was just o.k. Anyone of these rooms could be modeled just about anywhere.
Won't vote because every one of them are too modern and too cold looking.

Love the colorful artwork and accents in Sydney!

London hands down. Modern but comfortable. Berlin is my next favourite - reminds me of friends homes in Germany (yes, I know Berlin is in Germany). The rest are too stark - more of a show home than a "living" room.

The window in Sydney does it for me. I do not find anything else in that room that appeals to me though. I'm a comfort gal...I like a room to feel cozy and homey.
The Sydney one due to the colour and the light from the beautiful window.

    Relaxing, warm, comfortable room

I guess they could have photoshopped that pic into any of those spaces. I don't believe any one of them are in the actual city they claim to be.

I have red accents in my kitchen. I decided to paint one of the lower cabinets red.

I like Sidney because the big window, the space is open and high ceiling, the fire place, and the view, neutral colors. I will add a little more color to the room with some painting or a nice sculptures

I vote for Sydney because of the beautiful architecture. High ceiling, big window with nice view, cosy details such as fire and inviting cushions and art. Besides I was never in Sydney and would love to stay in a house like this.

Love bringing the outside to the inside of a home. That is the reason for my selection of Sydney. I do think the London home has a more comfortable and "homey" look to it. For location, location, location Paris is "it."
