What would you use for a backsplash in this kitchen?

Not sure what type or color backsplash to use in this kitchen. I like the subway tile look but I'm just not sure. Do I add color like the brown subways I have on counters or go white. I'm cabinets are ivory not white.

It looks like your counters are granite, yes? Let them take center stage and don't put a competing busy pattern on the backsplash. Keep it simple, especially since all your choices so far are classic. You could, for example, pick a light or medium range color from the granite and get solid tile (glass, ceramic, whatever you like) for the backsplash in that shade.

Hi---very pretty kitchen! I suggest a splash that has some pattern and depth-to coordinate with the wood tone of the island. Here's an example... Good Luck!

Your kitchen is a great candidate for herrington design in a carerra marble. Once you add beautiful roman blinds and great hardware, it think it will be a classic look you won't get tired of.

we did a travertine subway backsplash... and I love the way it pulls the kitchen together... I think this could work with your colors too.

Try ice blue 1x1 inch tiles. This is almost the exact granite I had in my old house. The contrast between warm and cold was really great.

Hi again. I would recommend purchasing samples of 2-3 different tiles and trying them in your space before committing to one. As I mentioned above, the Arcadia Sugar Cookie would coordinate well. Here are more possibilities. Keep us posted...

I love the pop of color these large blue glass tiles give to this classic kitchen. It's not quite this bright in person.

You only really need a back splash where things can splash. Otherwise, a nice coat of semigloss paint is completely washable, easily changed, a lot cheaper to install, and doesn't clash with the countertops...

The busier and more ornate you make the backsplash the quicker it will become dated. Go white!

I think a nice, light, creamy colored tumbled marble or tumbled travertine would look lovely. They'll add a nice soft touch without competing with your beautiful granite countertops.

Can you post closer pictures of the cabinets and granite? It's hard to see how much pattern the granite has and what color the cabinets are.

How do you like this? Cream to match your cabinets. I love the herringbone adds interest without adding lots of other colors.
