We are just starting our Beach house construction and love the look of the Valor L1 with the long beach log set. We also would like the TV above the fireplace and are wondering what size TV will Look in balance above the Valor. We want enough space between them to protect the TV from the heat of the fireplace. My questions are: Did you put some sort of heat protective barrier above the fireplace? Also what is the size of your TV?

I don't have the information on the TV as it was supplied by the client. You can use the fireplace spec info to find a unit that has a similar width. We placed a small mantel above the unit but the most important thing to block the heat is to get the unit with electronic ignition so there is no pilot light and install a fan in the unit as well to move the heat off into the room.

Valor has solved the problem of placing heat sensitive materials above a fireplace with the introduction of the Heat Shift that passes 60% of the heat through 4 - 5" ducts behind the wall to a plenum, and out a narrow grill above any heat sensitive items, and is so effective at reducing heat that the entire wall surface up to the opening can now have combustible materials on it and TVs as close as about 7 inches are not even warm.
