After 8 years we are finally getting our basement done. I want to be pretty sure of what we need before we get contractors in (I have enough Houzz photos to choose from :) ). Attached are 2 slightly different versions of the floorplan. I'd be grateful for any input and thoughts!

In both, you enter from the garage into a mudroom. There is an existing space for closet / cubbies on the left of the picture, right in from of the stairs.

To your right as you walk in will be a bathroom or wetroom, straight ahead of you will be my husband's office / guestroom to be used maybe once or twice per year (as a guest room...office every day.)

At the back is a large rec room, to be used as a media room (right) and gym area (left). Behind that is the furnace room which will have storage etc. Ceiling height is about 8ft but there is a bulkhead running from the 'gym' LHS wall (back), along the furnace wall, snaking around the understair storage, through the top of the mudroom and across the top end of the office.

The basement is below ground with high windows (no view) in the rec room, office only. It's partially framed and roughed in for plumbing.

Thoughts from those good at visualising space? Anyone who's recently completed their basement with learnings?
