Advice on kitchen sink

I want to change from a white porcelain over steal sink to a stainless sink. I have been told I could break the granite counter top when doing this. I know the sink is heavy and has been there for about 10 years so I would think if it were going to break it would have. Does anyone have any experience with this issue?

It's *removing* the sink that's the issue. You would need to remove the stone top, or deconstruct the sink base cradle to do it. And the fact that it would be VERY difficult to find another undermount sink with the exact same cutout hole template.

Sophia is right about finding something that will fit. It simply will not happen, especially when you are changing from one material to another. I ordered hundreds of sinks for a granite fabricator and know that you are the customer we wanted to avoid. You might be able to find a drop in sink that can work.

If your porcelain sink is scratched, etc, you might be able to find someone that can put a new finish on it without taking it out. This I am really unsure about.

Under all circumstances it is bet to buy the highest quality sink so as to avoid situations like this.
