Q: where are you going to eat? I'd imagine that such a "great room" is designed imagining, in part, that you will put a table at the kitchen end and a livingroom ensemble at the other end. if you do all that, then you're unlikely to have more than a corner left for an office, but it depends a bit on the exact sorts of furniture you have/like . . .

(in a vacuum, I might think that a desk would work on the kitchen wall, but I think that's a breakfast bar in your diagram, yes?)

We are not going to utilize a kitchen table, we will just be using the breakfast bar that is show in the diagram. We are using the space strictly for a living room set up with TV & and office set up.

Hello - I see a couple ways that this can be done. For the Office area I would utilize some of natural light by a window. My home office is located to the left of a window with part of the right side of the desk under the window.

I would but bookshelves on each side of the window that is centered to the room on the wall opposite of the Master Bedroom wall. I would then set the desk centered about 36" between the bookcase and seating side of the desk. Have the desk face towards the Master Bedroom wall. I would also use cabinets to make up the componets of the desk & bookcase. I would make sure that you have 36" of walkway between the walls and the desk to the left and right of the desk. This would give you about a 72" desk. Also make a knee wall behind the desk to run needed electric boxes. Make the kneewall somewhere between 36" to 40" high.

I would then set a couch facing the master bedroom wall with the back of the couch to the kneewall and utilize the kneewall for any electric that would be needed for the couch side. This also allows room for extra seating in the remaining area of the great room. This layout can also utilize the seating at the kitchen top overhang when friends and family members are visiting for some type of gathering.

I would put a flat screen tv on the matster bedroom wall, and all electronics needed for the cable box, stereo, and surround sound system.
