Design Help for Victorian Home

My husband and I just moved into an 1886 Victorian rowhouse and are working to furnish it. The home has a lot of its original pieces (two fireplaces, including one tiled coal-burner, on the main floor, original floors, moldings, ceiling medallions, etc.) so we want to keep that historic feel, but we also want it to feel comfortable. We are hoping for opulent and inviting over formal and stuffy. We entertain almost every weekend, so we need ample seating and nice flow between the living and dining room spaces. We've bought a few historic pieces (a Victorian couch and an Edwardian dining set), but we need to furnish the rest of the space, and I'm not sure how to bridge the gap between centuries. We would love recommendations on furnishings and layout. Thanks!

PS Please ignore the mess and the extra chairs. We are still upacking and put a few chairs in the space for interim seating.
