Above mount farmsink

Can you tell me your thoughts on a farmsink sitting above the counter as in this picture? I just purchased a 24-inch white Rohl sink and I just found out that it's too deep for my cabinet, the lower doors are in the way. My only option is to either mount it above the counter by 1 1/2 - 2 inches or store it in a closet since I cannot return it. Do you know how high this sink is above the counter? Thanks, I really appreciate any feedback you can give me!

Hi there, sorry to just answer now but away on holiday. I am not sure in inches but the measurment from the counter to the top of the sink is 6.5 cm. The sink is made by Villeroy and Bosch and we love it! hope this helps...

If you look closely, the sink is not on top of the counter, of course, but it does stick up above... that might solve the original poster's problem... If not, what if you took out the cabinet underneath, built the support for the farmhouse sink and then just put up a little curtain underneath... I've seen several done that way and it's very cute!

Thank you both for the comments, I ended up very reluctantly returning both the farmsink and matching Rohl faucet for a $650 restocking fee. I didn't think I would be able to return it at all. Although the look wasnt what I was aiming for I had to go with a Julien undermount stainless steel 16 gauge sink. Changes the look of the kitchen but I wasn't about to let anyone take a saw to my base cabinet as the original contractor was considering.

The cabinet makers do tend to make this an issue. I had to do one mounted higher than I liked as well, but I was still happy with it.

Thanks Posh. If I didn't have so many things go wrong with this renovation I may have taken a chance and installed it as you did in the above design. It actually still looks really nice installed higher, you just lose the convenience of wiping crumbs right into the sink. I was also concerned instaling it hgher because the sink is on the island and the back of it is seen from the connected breakfast room.
