You might think about painting the cabinets white/cream that would look great with yellow walls.

Getting appliances what go with the era of the counters would help also.

Hi---I suggest a medium shade of gray for the walls---BM's Willow Creek or even darker Devonshire Green would look nice---sorry, I'm against yellow in this space-I think it will give an uneasy feeling in there-not good for relaxing and eating a meal. As for cabs, the same color as the dishwasher would work. Add accent pieces in the counter color as well as orange, and lime green. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

I love retro mid-century modern design and your kitchen is really great, but I have to agree with other commenters that I don't think yellow is the way to go - at least not for the amount of wall space you have here. Maybe look for a great midcentury-inspired wallpaper for that long back wall and then pull a colour from it for the other walls (including a yellow if that's your preference). I also happen to love the colour combo of olive or avocado green with robin's egg blue, so perhaps that could work in this space, at least as an accent colour if nothing else. Good luck - it will probably take a few tries on getting the right paint colour, but you're making the right choice in sticking with a great midcentury kitchen rather than gutting it.

Yellow is notoriously very tricky to get right - it can be bland or sickly depending on the light. Also it has to not clash with the blue green counter tops. Yellow may not look good with the wood, white or pale aqua cabinets would work better with the yellow you crave. Maybe some funky retro wall paper on the far wall- Groovy Baby.

I love soft yellow in a kitchen, but I have to agree with others who have said that yellow may be too much for this kitchen. A rich, creamy deep off-white or beige would work great with your flooring and if you want to enhance the retro look, then go with retro appliances. Also posting a photo showing something similar to the color of your counters with white cabinets -- just for fun.

Are you sure you want to ad yellow to the kitchen? Why not a darker teal backing the cabinets, such as the rim in the countertop? And a softer pistacchio in the dining area? (with a chair rail and a cute wallpaper for example).
If you do choose a yellow, add some apple and coral to blend in the turquoise and wood (see last picture).

I do love the look of lime green with the teal! It's exciting, lively. The soft warm yellow with the lime green chair and small red accents really make it all pop. Two great choices. (Lake Macatawa Zahn Home) You have had lots of great advice. The dining area may benefit from a mural or couple of huge appropriate posters to liven it up and a rug under the table would help too. Lime yellow walls, teal rug? Have fun!
