I like your thinking for bringing in some stainless on the table, but try stainless is VERY expensive... My first image is from a company that is the real deal! Phillips Collection sustainably harvests these huge trees and makes "live edge" tables out of them. I would say at retail, these tables are probably $5,000-$7,000, depending on the size and the piece of wood. I've attached another "knock off" piece, but as you can see, the base is not true stainless as the Phillips Collection one is. This is from Classic Home Furnishings and at retail I would expect this table to be about $3,000-$3,500. Lastly, I'm attaching an image of a cool table from the Skyline Collection by a neat company out of Massachusetts, called Saloom Furniture. Very well made and not super expensive, considering American made. Probably retail about $3,000.

I also think you desperately need a bench for the window seat. An upholsterer can make this for you. They need to make a template of your bench before they try to create it so you are guaranteed a good fit!

HI - thanks so much for the advice! Love the Saloom table. It's out of my price range but hopefully I can find something similar.

I do have a bench cushion on order - can't wait to get it!!

My last question on the table for the dining room - any thoughts on what wood tone I should get? stick with the dark wood or should I go lighter?

K - Try looking on All Modern online. They have some GREAT deals. I would stick with darker, personally.
