Real art is something that the artist put his or her soul into and should move you. Decorative art is, well, something else. Support an artist. Attend a couple of local art shows. There are often really good artists who are not committed to a gallery and whose work is inexpensive.

Buy art because you like it, not to match to your bedspread. This way you will appreciate the art for what it is every time you look at it. It is not a lamp shade, a pillow or a curtain. I agree with Lorna.
