If they are already painted as you describe and you want to do the work yourself, then painting the brick the color of your choice is probably the easiest. If the old color is darker, then use a primer to block the color. Be sure to talk to your local paint store to see which product they recommend. There are better options than paintings, but they'll cost significantly more and require a pro to install unless you are super handy
