apricot with that sienna pillow and maybe hummmingbird - you have a lovely bed frame, so maybe less pattern is 'more' as to bedding choice. I imagine that you don't want such pastel colors, but this apricot is in between, and could still look feminine. And a bit of earthy for your cameras - their presence add a different thing of dark [bedding between pastel and dark].

Places like TJ Maxx and Marshals and Home Goods have great bedding for reasonable prices. I just got this quilt for my daughter. New quilted bedding would really be nice in your room.

I love the bed...but what about getting a old vintage door and using it as a headboard and turning you bed long ways so it looks more like a large sofa? The headboard can be painted black, or off white or if you have sections in the door it can also be upholstered in those areas making a place where you can rest up against it when you are doing homework. You can bring in tables or nightstands and paint them the same color you choose. It is a great look and works great for high school and college students and even guest rooms.

A comment about large items and your camera collection - in my mind the dark tones and number of them cries out for what Vickie mentions: large chunk of woody weight, maybe lighter driftwood grey, which a bit echoes cameras. In other words as lovely as your metal bed is, it's delicate. I'm wondering if this is a conflict for you, in that you chose dark teal, and also mint green. Teal goes with brown [cameras] much better than mint....I tried to be brief :)

With those great cameras I'm thinking you need old black and white photography to go along with it. I would get more frames. Thrift stores and garage sales are great for getting frames. Paint the frames all one color. Then ask mom if there are any old black and white family photos and also check Google images for black and white photography.

I would go with white bedding then add some fun colored shams and throws. You can change the colors up easy that way. When you get bored of one print you can try another for a totally different look. You can even make the pillow covers and throw it only takes a few minutes to sew them.

See if mom will get you a chandelier. They look great in a bedroom and add an old world feel.

Thank you everyone!!!!! I am trying so hard to find the right bedding and shams, honestly I don't like stuff like on teen, I am leaning towards anthropologie urban outfitters, for like pillows, where can I find an affordable white textured bedding?

Get a duvet cover and put your current comforter in it. They come with shams. They have them at Target, Overstock, Sears, Khols and Walmart the list goes on.

Do learn to sew. You can copy Pottery Barn and Anthropologie designs for next to nothing.

One thing you might want to try...go to local antique shops. They often have beautiful handmade quilts & pillows. Likely made right in your area, rather than China. Look for cute art work & vintage lamps. Vintage and/or antique does NOT mean "grandma".

Do you know anyone who can sew? Nothing crazy...just a pillow. You can find adorable linen napkins at those shops. You can get mismatched ones for cheap. Get some foam & have someone sew the napkins, or even hankies, together & stuff the pillow foam inside. Have a velcro edge so you can remove the foam to wash them. Much cheaper than a store-bought & much cuter too. NO ONE else will have it!

When you go into those shops, try to bargain with them. Don't always accept the sticker as the final price.

I've been on the hunt for similar items for over 7 years. My best piece of advice....take some time. You'll likely not find exactly what you want within a week. You'll know what you like when you see it.

I replaced all the random photos and replaced them with black and white vintage photos and I love them!! Then I replaced the tacky gold with a plum that I made by combining brown and white. I definitely want to keep the moose head but I don't know what to do with it. I was thinking maybe I can remove the flowers or something, I really want to keep it cause my grandpa made it for me and it was anthropologie inspired!!!

Hannah, have you tried to draw out the new room using the suggestions you like most? Another suggestion: for more light, look for strips of LEDs. You have the choice of color and brightness. They can be practical lighting or mood lighting, as you prefer. You'll need a transformer (basically a black box) to step down the voltage. Let me see if I can find one for you.

I think I have too much white in my room already, BASICLY everything is white.

I think a good cotton solid white duvet is the best for many reasons:

First if it gets dirty it can be bleached. Second it goes with anything - you can color it up or down. Third it will never be a color that goes out of style.

While grey is a neutral it alone is pretty blah and depressing.

If you Google Image a grey and plum room you will see 99% of the time they have large amounts of white in there.

Having the white does not limit you from adding grey and plum. Having grey limits you to the tone of the grey you have. All greys have different undertones ranging from warm to cold.

Don't lock your style into one thing. Let your mood reflect change with the seasons and the holidays and your interests as you go through the next few years. I guarantee what your 10 year old self and your current self and your 17 year old self likes - has and will alter.

The walls are a pale blue. I do want to change the room color but I don't know if my parents would let me. If I where to change it what color would you suggest?

Forget the grey - bedding same color as wall, with already-loved plum!!!!!! Next to each other on color wheel and it's a soft look. Grey in an area rug if you like grey.

I like the white bedding idea because you can be so creative with everything surrounding the bed as far as bringing color into the room. I actually just did the same thing with my room and it looks great. My bed spread isn't white, but it's a muted color that brings out the colors of my paintings around the room.
