Our home has hardwood throughout. Including banisters and spindles Ina golden oak. We have just had the main floor refinished darker and will be doing the stairs and upper floor in the next few months. In he meantime, our dog is getting old but loves to come up to the bedroom at night and is starting to slip on the hardwood stairs. We are considering a runner but don't want to do anything irrevocable to the wood stairs. Is there a somewhat temporary way of fastening down a stair runner? Or will the areas we need to screw things into need reaching when we refinish the stairs? Thanks!
