Soffit Dilemma

Which size crown moulding should I add to the soffit(bulkhead), either 3 1/2 or 5 1/2 inch. Also, is it a good idea to paint the bulkhead the same colour as the soffit to add continuity? The bulkhead is 10 inches and the room is 8 ft tall. Any advise is appreciated.
